Rocky Mountain Employee Ownership Center (RMEOC) has launched a Homecare Cooperative Incubation Program to build a STATEWIDE worker-owned homecare cooperative.
Two needs the cooperative is built to meet:
Colorado needs more homecare, and it needs homecare jobs people can build a career in. A worker-owned cooperative addresses both at once.
Better Jobs in Care
Caregiving is skilled, essential work. The cooperative model raises pay, invests in training, and gives caregivers ownership and a voice in how their agency runs.
Growing Need for Homecare
The growing need for quality, community-based care for seniors and people with disabilities, especially in rural and underserved parts of the state.
Statewide Impact
A cooperative with branches operating across Colorado to fill the gaps in regional care ecosystems.
After completing a feasibility study, RMEOC helped launch Colorado's first homecare cooperative, with its first regional branches in the Front Range, Western Slope, and Southern Colorado. The cooperative is completing state licensing, and each region operates under the clinical oversight of a Registered Nurse.

Homecare workers are the backbone of our long-term care system–however, they are undervalued, underpaid, and often forced to rely on public assistance. Homecare cooperatives are emerging as a solution.

Why this matters

Communities
By 2030, more than 1.2 million Coloradans will be over the age of 65. Nationally, 9 out of 10 seniors say they want to age in place—living independently in the comfort of their own homes.
This project aims to make that possible. By expanding the availability of trained caregivers, we can ensure that seniors and individuals with disabilities have the support they need to remain safe, comfortable, and connected at home. With a Statewide home care cooperative operating in each of Colorado’s five regions, we will expand access to high-quality, community-based care—especially in rural and underserved areas where options are limited. And because cooperatives prioritize the well-being of caregivers, the result is better care, higher client satisfaction, and stronger, healthier communities.

We are seeking in-kind support for everything from marketing to bookkeeping and financial training, to entrepreneurship coaching and legal support.
Funding
We are working to raise funds to launch each of the 5 regional home care cooperative branches debt free, with enough capital to cover indirect operating costs for one year.

Now Hiring: Regional Supervisory RN
The Colorado Care Cooperative is hiring Regional Supervisory Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide clinical oversight, caregiver supervision, and care coordination for home care clients across the Denver Metro, Western Slope, and Southern Colorado. Compensation is approximately $39–$46/hour with additional differentials, plus an ownership stake as a worker-owned cooperative. To apply, send your resume to [email protected].

Through mid-March, the Colorado Care Cooperative is hosting info sessions for caregivers interested in joining as Founding Members of regional home care branches operating across Colorado to fill the gaps in regional care ecosystems!
