Technical Assistance & Outreach Coordinator

The Rocky Mountain Employee Ownership Center (RMEOC) is looking for an experienced business advisor and outreach coordinator who is passionate about economic justice to promote more employee-owned businesses in rural Colorado.

Organizational Overview

The mission of RMEOC is to build a more just and sustainable economy by advancing employee ownership and workplace democracy across Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. We have diverse programs such as employee ownership conversion, cooperative incubation, policy and research, and cooperative education and have grown our organization significantly in recent years. We partner with workers, businesses, and community organizations to shift ownership, build wealth, and ensure dignity for working people—especially in communities of color, low-income communities, and immigrant communities.

Position Summary

The TA & Outreach coordinator is responsible for promoting employee-owned businesses in rural Colorado. As a community and business connector, the TA & Outreach coordinator will work mostly to fulfill the mission of a grant contract (OEDIT) that RMEOC received to increase the number of EO business conversions in rural Colorado. The TA & Outreach Coordinator will work closely with the rural employee-ownership director in developing outreach strategies and TA services for OEDIT business clients. The TA & Outreach coordinator will report to the Deputy Director.


This is a full-time, salaried position based in rural Colorado, with a flexible 40-hour work week.

Responsibilities

  • Community engagement and community organizing
  • Deliver technical assistance to businesses converting to employee ownership (EO)
  • Assess the loan readiness of businesses hoping to access financing
  • Plan and manage an ambassador program for business support organizations to become advocates for employee ownership in their communities, coordinating RMEOC’s responsibilities and activities with partners on this project
  • Contribute to the overall outreach strategy and its implementation
  • Plan, coordinate and organize various outreach events to promote employee ownership (EO)
  • Help create the contents of outreach materials

This position will report to the Deputy Director.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required

  • At least 2-3 years of working experience in and with businesses
  • Project management skills & experience
  • Experience with community business outreach
  • Willingness & ability to travel in rural Colorado (approximately 1x) or as needed.
  • Based in rural Colorado

Preferred

  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Affinity for marketing and outreach experiences
  • Knowledge of business and debt financing, loan readiness requirements

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting salary: $63,000
  • Health insurance stipend
  • Employer-paid dental and vision insurance
  • Annual leave: Starting at 15 days of paid vacation, 8 sick days, national holidays, and office closures for two weeks during the holiday season
  • A 401(k)-retirement plan with 4% employer contribution (after 12 months of employment with RMEOC)
  • Work-from-home support. We work mostly remotely but need someone based in rural Colorado.
  • Paid sabbatical after 6 years of employment with RMEOC
