Denver Metro Home Care Cooperative is looking for founding members

About the Opportunity

We are launching a worker-owned home care cooperative in the Denver Metro Area. We are seeking founding members who are passionate about caregiving and ready to build something powerful together: a worker-led home care business that values democracy, dignity, equity, and care—both for clients and workers.

Founding members will provide high-quality care while helping to shape the governance, operations, and culture of the cooperative. This is not just a job—it's a chance to co-create a future where caregivers have a real voice, ownership, and fair working conditions.

The selected Cooperative Founding Members will begin meeting in early Augus+

t with the goal of launching the cooperative and beginning to provide home care services in December 2025. 

Commitment: Part-time to start; flexible hours with additional time for cooperative Founding Member responsibilities

Compensation: Hourly rate during planning phase, competitive wages for caregiving as operations begin, and member-owner dividends upon profitability of the cooperative

Application window: May 20 - June 30

Interviews: July 1 - July 31, 2025

Key Responsibilities:

Caregiving Duties (to begin when cooperative secures license ETA December 2025/Jan 2026)

  • Provide high-quality, person-centered home care services (non-medical)
  • Follow care plans and maintain professional relationships with clients and families
  • Report observations and concerns to appropriate team members
  • Uphold confidentiality and care standards per Colorado regulations

Responsibilities as a Founding Member of the Cooperative (to begin in August 2025) 

  • Participate in regular meetings to plan the cooperative’s structure, services, and policies
  • Collaborate on decisions related to business operations, governance, and membership
  • Attend required training sessions on topics such as cooperative governance, home care best practices, democratic decision-making etc.
  • Support outreach and recruitment of future worker-owners and clients         

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience as a home care worker or similar caregiving role
  • Commitment to collective decision-making and cooperative principles
  • Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Ability to work with a wide range of coworkers and engage in respectful communication
  • Ability to commit time to both Founding Member responsibilities and caregiving once launched 

Preferred:

  • Bilingual (Your native language/English)
  • Reliable transportation across the Denver Metro Area
  • Experience participating in a member-led or community organization 
  • Experience serving clients with disabilities
  • Basic technical literacy (for scheduling, virtual meetings, etc.)
  • CNA or other certifications (or interest in obtaining them)
