David Sirota interview with Dick Peterson on AM 760

Director of Operations for the Rocky Mountain Employee Ownership Center in Denver Dick Peterson our special in studio guest. He recently wrote an opinion piece for the Denver Post called The Value of Employee Owned Companies. He argues that employee-owned companies return the profits back to the employee-owners, and they grow two to eight times faster than privately owned enterprises. Employee-owned organizations are usually democratically run, and the profits are retained in the community. The business model is free enterprise and a form of capitalism.

Anders Martinson Employee ownership is one way to give employees a stake in their jobs, but there's a lot more to employee motivation. The are other ways to let employees "own" their jobs and the organization's output. Take a look at the writings of Daniel Pink and Dan Ariely for examples.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have been a Sirota fan since I heard him introduced on Al Franken's old Air America talk show with his theme song, "My Sirota". I then found out we went to high school in the same Philadelphia suburban county, and had a chance to ask him which school at "The Battle of the Talk Show Hosts".
